Dear Alumni and Students,

I hope this message finds you well during these unprecedented times.

It is with a heavy heart that I must announce the cancellation of this year’s Homecoming Celebrations for the Faculty of Applied Science at the University of British Columbia (UBC) due to the ongoing impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The health and safety of our alumni, students, faculty, and staff remain our utmost priority, and after careful consideration of the current situation, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the planned events. While we had hoped to gather in person to celebrate our shared achievements, the continued uncertainty surrounding the pandemic and public health guidelines make it impossible for us to proceed with the festivities as planned.

We understand that many of you may have been looking forward to reconnecting with fellow alumni and engaging with current students during Homecoming. We share your disappointment and apologize for any inconvenience this cancellation may cause. Please know that this decision was made with the well-being of our community in mind.

Although we cannot gather in person, we are exploring alternative ways to stay connected and engaged with our alumni and students. We will be providing updates on any virtual events or initiatives that may be organized in the future.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to us at apsc@ubc.ca.

Thank you for your understanding and support during these challenging times. We look forward to the day when we can safely come together again to celebrate our shared accomplishments.

Warm regards,

James Olson
Dean, Faculty of Applied Science
University of British Columbia (UBC)
